Nazaha highlights Kuwait’s anti-corruption reforms at UN meet in Vienna

The Public Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) showcased Kuwait’s latest legislative advancements in combating corruption during a meeting of the Anti-Corruption Working Group under the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) held in Vienna.
Representing Nazaha, Abdulrahman Al-Wazzan, a senior professional at the International Cooperation Department, presented key updates on national efforts—particularly legislation focused on the identification of beneficial ownership, a critical element in preventing illicit financial activities and increasing corporate transparency, reports Al-Rai daily.
Al-Wazzan emphasized Kuwait’s ongoing cooperation within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to draft a comprehensive procedural guide on identifying beneficial owners. He also announced Nazaha’s initiative to host a specialized regional workshop in partnership with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), aiming to build capacity and promote best practices among regional stakeholders.
Nazaha’s participation underscores Kuwait’s commitment to international anti-corruption standards and reinforces its role in fostering transparency, accountability, and effective governance both domestically and within the wider region.
