Municipality inspects demolition sites across governorates, issues 16 safety licenses

Kuwait Municipality announced on Thursday the launch of a comprehensive field inspection campaign across all six governorates to ensure compliance with regulations governing the demolition of buildings of all types and uses.

The campaign, carried out by municipal safety departments, aims to verify adherence to approved demolition procedures for private residential, investment, commercial, industrial and chalet properties, reports Al-Rai daily.

It also focuses on ensuring that demolition activities are undertaken exclusively by classified contractors and in accordance with the conditions for issuing demolition permits approved by Kuwait Municipality.

The Municipality emphasized the supervisory role of safety management teams, staffed by national engineering cadres, in overseeing demolition works and ensuring strict compliance with safety requirements.

These teams are responsible for monitoring demolition processes on site, verifying contractor classifications, and taking all necessary regulatory action against violators to ensure full adherence to safety systems and regulations.

In this context, the Director of the Safety Department at the Hawalli Governorate Municipality branch, Engineer Khaled Al-Otaibi, said that supervisory teams conducted a field tour during which several properties scheduled for demolition were inspected.

He confirmed that the inspected sites were found to be compliant with safety requirements and in possession of valid demolition permits, thereby reducing the risk of accidents.

Al-Otaibi added that the department issued a total of 16 safety licenses, including 12 licenses for private residential properties and four licenses for investment housing properties.

The campaign forms part of Kuwait Municipality’s ongoing efforts to enhance public safety, regulate construction and demolition activities, and ensure compliance with established legal and technical standards across all governorates.
