Municipality and PADA to form joint committee for accessibility oversight

Kuwait Municipality Director General, Engineer Manal Al-Asfour, announced that a joint committee is being established in cooperation with the Public Authority for the Disabilities Affairs (PADA) to coordinate and monitor services for persons with disabilities.

This initiative follows Al-Asfour’s approval of a proposal submitted by Municipal Council member Eng. Farah Al-Roumi, which calls for clarifying responsibilities related to the implementation and updating of the Kuwait Accessibility Code in line with universal design principles, reports Al-Rai daily.

Al-Asfour stated that the committee will be tasked with defining the scope of responsibility for monitoring the enforcement of the Accessibility Code.

It will also engage with relevant institutions and appoint liaison officers to ensure smooth communication and cooperation among stakeholders.
