MoSA to ‘allow’ charity donations, 18 associations face closure

Nearly two weeks after suspending fundraising activities due to links with unlicensed websites, the Ministry of Social Affairs is expected to allow charity societies to resume donation collections, especially for urgent medical needs.

The suspension was enforced to protect donors and uphold the reputation of Kuwait’s charitable work, reports Al-Jarida daily.

Meanwhile, the ministry’s ongoing review of civil society organizations has identified 18 associations facing possible dissolution due to legal violations and non-compliance.

After two warnings without response, a third and final warning will be issued within a week. If ignored, the ministry will proceed with legal action, bringing the total dissolved associations to 39 and reducing the number of public benefit groups to 168.
