Personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department (Land Ports Investigation Department) has uncovered a warehouse which was as a storage to smuggle subsidized food supplies outside the country.
In a statement, the Ministry of Interior said the operation the warehouse was raided after customs officials at the Al-Salmi border crossing referred a case to the ministry after a vehicle was intercepted while attempting to leave the country with quantities of subsidized food supplies hidden in a professional manner.
After completing the necessary security procedures, a specialized task force was formed, leading to the discovery of a warehouse operated by Egyptians, reports Al-Jarida daily.
The warehouse was found to contain large quantities of subsidized food supplies prepared for smuggling and sale outside Kuwait.
The Ministry confirmed that all legal measures have been taken against the suspects.
The Ministry of Interior emphasized that it will not tolerate any attempts to exploit government subsidies or tamper with state resources.
It affirmed the continuation of security and monitoring campaigns to apprehend violators and confront anyone involved in such illegal activities, urging the public to cooperate and report any suspicious practices.
