MOH denies doctor’s controversial tweet

The Ministry of Health (MoH) completely denied a doctor’s tweet on X platform about a nurse exiting the operation theater to punch in the mandatory “third fingerprint”.

It is noteworthy that social networking sites circulated a doctor’s post in which he apparently indicated that while he was performing a serious surgery, a nurse requested permission to go out to punch in the mandatory “third fingerprint” (to prove presence at work), in addition to citing another similar situation with a radiologist, indicating that they had to go through the sterilization protocol twice over after exit and return.

MOH said in a statement that “the details mentioned in the publications are misleading” adding that the medical team was present throughout the operation and the surgeon was never alone. In fact, the radiologist left the operation room only after his role had ended.

The statement explained that there is an approved protocol in place for exclusions to rules for staff in operating rooms or in critical care situations.

MoH stressed that legal action will be taken towards those who broadcast misinformation to cause panic among patients and harm the reputation of the National Health Foundation, as reported by the Arabic daily Al Qabas.
