MOH begins distributing Afiya cards to new beneficiaries

Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi, the Minister of Health, has announced the commencement of the distribution of “Afiya” health insurance cards to new beneficiary segments, starting next Sunday. This initiative is in line with the implementation of Law No. 71 of 2023, amending Article 2 of Law No. 114 of 2014 concerning health insurance for retired citizens and adding new categories eligible for health insurance under “Afiya Insurance.”

Dr. Hisham Kalender, the Assistant Undersecretary for External Health Services Affairs and Supervisor of “Afiya” Insurance, highlighted that over 200 thousand individuals will benefit from health insurance services with the addition of three new categories, as per the provisions of Law 71 of 2023, reports Al-Jarida daily.

He commended the efforts of his colleagues in the Insurance and Health Insurance Department at the Ministry of Health, expressing gratitude for their dedication to serving the esteemed insured citizens.
Dr. Kalender emphasized the distribution of health insurance cards to the newly included categories through 18 designated locations across all governorates of the country.

He also acknowledged the collaborative efforts of various sectors and departments within the Ministry to complete the implementation of Law No. 71 of 2023, including the necessary preparatory and administrative procedures to facilitate access for the new categories. He concluded by extending wishes for good health and well-being to all beneficiaries.
