MOE opens one-month transfer window for students

Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, Anwar Al-Hamdan, has issued a decision to initiate a special transfer period from public schools to private (Arabic) schools and vice versa.

The transfer period is set to begin on Sunday, February 4, and will conclude on Thursday, 29th of the same month. This opportunity is extended to kindergarten, primary, and middle school students in grades one to nine, subject to specific conditions and regulations.

As per the decision, secondary school students enrolled in grades ten to twelfth can transfer from private (Arabic) education schools to general education schools, provided that their chosen subjects align with the free choice subjects. However, the decision explicitly prohibits the transfer of secondary school students from general education schools to private (Arabic) education schools.

The transfer process is contingent on available vacancies in the educational district, and all relevant parties must adhere to these guidelines. The decision comes into effect on February 4, 2024.

In a related context, Hessa Al-Mutawa, the Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Public Education, affirmed that the Ministry is actively working to open learner care centers in educational areas during the upcoming second semester.

This announcement followed her chairing a meeting of the Council of General Directors, attended by directors and principals of educational districts, as well as the director of the Coordination Department, at the Ministry of Education’s meeting room. The meeting covered crucial educational topics, including discussions on the timing of school hours during the upcoming month of Ramadan.
