Ministry of Commerce cracks down on gold shops in Jahra

A joint inspection team from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry conducted a surprise inspection of gold shops in Jahra

• Seven violations were recorded for non-compliance with consumer return policies.

• The ministry emphasized its commitment to protecting consumer rights and ensuring transparency in the market.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has announced that a joint inspection team, comprising members from the Commercial Control Department and the Precious Metals Department, conducted a comprehensive inspection of gold shops in Jahra Governorate.

During the inspection, authorities issued seven citations for non-compliance with a ministerial decree mandating that gold and precious jewelry stores must display a clear return policy for consumers.

This policy stipulates that customers have up to 24 hours from the time of purchase to return or exchange their items.

The ministry reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the rights of consumers through rigorous oversight of the commercial market. By ensuring that businesses adhere to all relevant laws and regulations, the ministry aims to promote transparency in business practices and foster trust between merchants and consumers.
