Ministry of Affairs achieves zero duplication in dual memberships
The ministry’s new automated system rejects any shareholder already registered in another association and at a previous address
A source from the Ministry of Affairs informed Al-Anbaa newspaper that by implementing fully electronic and automated programs in the cooperation sector, particularly concerning membership and shareholder matters, the ministry has successfully eradicated the problem of dual membership in associations. They emphasized that duplication is now at “zero.”
The source indicated that the number of shareholders has surpassed half a million, spread across 77 cooperative societies and two federations (Union of Consumer Cooperative Societies and Union of Agricultural Productive Societies).
The source mentioned that this achievement resulted from linking cooperative societies with the cooperation sector. This initiative aims to resolve data duplication issues that occurred in the past, before the complete implementation of the automated system for shareholder data management, which now handles data for each society separately through the computer.
The source explained that every Kuwaiti citizen has the right to contribute to cooperative societies affiliated with their area of residence, in accordance with the conditions specified in the Cooperative Labor Law.
Sources also explained that the new automated system rejects any shareholder already registered in another association and at a previous address. Instead, the shareholder must submit a letter requesting a change of address, canceling their contribution to the previous association, and having their name removed from the lists by the relevant administration. This process allows them to contribute to the association affiliated with their new residence.
