Ministerial tour ensures food security at Kuwait Ports’ Abdullah Port warehouses

The joint visit underscores the government and various agencies’ commitment to ensuring the safety and quality of storage facilities and securing food supply for citizens.

Three ministers, including Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan, Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for Municipal Affairs; Dr. Mahmoud Bushehri, Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy and Minister of State for Housing Affairs; and Omar Al-Omar, Minister of Commerce and Industry and Minister of State for Communications Affairs, conducted an inspection tour of Kuwait Ports Corporation’s food security warehouses at Abdullah Port, as reported by Al Qabas newspaper.

In a press statement, the Kuwait Ports Corporation highlighted that during the tour, it ensured compliance with security and safety standards in the warehouses. The statement emphasized the strategic importance of rice stocks for Kuwait Catering Company and underscored the role of Danish-Kuwaiti Dairy Company KDD’s warehouses in securing food for the country.

The statement further noted that these collaborative efforts demonstrate effective ministerial cooperation aimed at ensuring the availability of essential food supplies, as well as maintaining the safety and quality of strategic stocks. This reflects their commitment to enhancing food safety and security standards.

Al-Mashaan emphasized the importance and role of the Kuwait Ports Authority, the principal body responsible for managing and operating ports in Kuwait.

She added that the corporation aims to enhance maritime transport and facilitate the movement of goods and commercial ships by improving performance and developing Kuwait’s port infrastructure. These efforts reflect the corporation’s commitment to strengthening the national economy in alignment with the directives of the political leadership to improve performance, develop port infrastructure, bolster the maritime sector, achieve sustainable development, and enhance vital state infrastructure.

This joint visit underscores the government and various agencies’ commitment to ensuring the safety and quality of storage facilities and securing food supply for citizens. It emphasizes the importance of effective cooperation between ministries and relevant agencies to ensure proper coordination in this regard.

Al-Mashaan highlighted that the political leadership consistently prioritizes providing necessary resources for port development and meeting all their requirements. This effort aims to enhance the port’s role as a crucial hub for trade and maritime transport, improve service levels, and upgrade infrastructure to support the national economy’s needs.

Al-Mashaan said that the Kuwait Ports Corporation is deeply committed to developing and improving the conditions of its employees. It aims to provide a stimulating and comfortable work environment while fostering the development of their skills through continuous training and growth opportunities.

Dr. Mahmoud Bushehri, Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, as well as Minister of State for Housing Affairs, emphasized the importance of maintaining uninterrupted energy supply to buildings, Kuwait Ports Authority, factories, and warehouses. This continuity supports operational stability within this critical area.

Bushehri highlighted Kuwait’s efforts to address power outage issues, especially during the summer, by expanding and enhancing the number of power stations. Kuwait relies on an advanced distribution network comprising multiple generating stations to ensure reliable electrical energy supply across the country.

He stressed that Kuwait is taking continuous steps to increase its generating capacity and ensure the sustainable and stable provision of electricity to all citizens and institutions.

He continued, “These efforts aim to strengthen the infrastructure for electricity generation and ensure continuous energy supply to meet the needs of the Kuwaiti people. These sustainable steps reflect Kuwait’s commitment to achieving energy sector sustainability and meeting future energy demands.”

On the other hand, Omar Al-Omar stressed the importance of ensuring food security and emphasized providing essential food commodities while ensuring their quality and safety for citizens.

Al-Omar highlighted that achieving food security and ensuring high-quality basic commodities are top priorities for the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. He emphasized the ministry’s adherence to strict procedures to ensure goods meet health and safety standards, aiming to promote well-being and public health for citizens and residents of the country.

They were accompanied on the tour by Major General Khaled Abdullah Fahd, the acting Chief of the Kuwait Fire Force. During the tour, they ensured full compliance with safety and security standards, as well as adherence to storage requirements in line with the highest standards mandated by relevant government agencies.

Major General Khaled Fahd also emphasized everyone’s commitment to ensuring security and meeting safety requirements to safeguard employees and visitors of the Kuwait Ports Authority and all vital areas in Kuwait. He stressed the importance of maintaining infrastructure with the highest standards of security and safety.
