Lawyers challenge constitutionality of new judicial fees law before top court

A group of lawyers has filed a direct appeal to the Constitutional Court, challenging the constitutionality of Law No. 78 of 2025, which amends certain provisions of the Judicial Fees Law. The contested law was recently approved and published in the Official Gazette, Kuwait Al-Yawm.
In their petition, the appellants called for the nullification of several articles of the amended law — specifically Articles 2, 6 (first paragraph), 7, 8, 10, 18 (first paragraph), 19, 22, and 23 — on the grounds that they violate constitutional principles, reports Al-Rai daily.
The lawyers also argued that the remaining provisions of the law should be annulled, as they are inseparably linked to the challenged articles.
The Constitutional Court is expected to schedule a hearing to consider the appeal in the near future.
