Ladies Diwaniya helps build bridges of friendship

Sheikha Suhaila Fahd Al Sabah, Managing Editor of The Times Kuwait held an exclusive ladies diwaniya on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan. The diwaniya saw a large gathering of ladies from the diplomatic corps experience the cherished Kuwaiti tradition of Diwaniya Diplomacy.

The diwaniya has historically been a male-dominated gathering place where guests delve into matters ranging from local news, personal affairs and the past. The Diwaniya serves as a pillar of Kuwaiti social life, fostering community bonds and facilitating dialogue.

However in recent years there has been an emergence of Ladies Diwaniya’s (Majlis) as Kuwaiti women have begun to carve out their own niche within this cultural tradition by establishing Ladies Diwaniyas. These gatherings provide a supportive environment where women can network, share knowledge, and empower each other.

Sheikha Suhaila Al Sabah diwaniya was widely applauded by the women diplomats who were present who welcomed the opportunity for cultural exchange and networking. Women from diverse backgrounds came together to share their experiences and perspectives, enriching the collective knowledge and fostering a sense of unity and solidarity.
