Kuwait’s strategic water reserve hits record high at 96% capacity

The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy has raised Kuwait’s strategic water reserve to an all-time high of 96 percent, surpassing 4 trillion imperial gallons in total storage.

According to informed sources, the significant increase is due to the return of water distillers to operation following scheduled maintenance, reports Al-Rai daily.

This restoration of production capacity has played a central role in boosting reserves to their highest recorded levels.

Officials at the power plant and water operations and maintenance sectors were praised for their efforts, which contributed directly to this achievement.

The sources emphasized that the ministry’s leadership is committed to ensuring the continued stability of both water supply and the electricity grid—especially as the country faces growing demand due to the ongoing expansion of residential developments and infrastructure projects.

The achievement reflects the ministry’s proactive approach to resource management, as water and electricity consumption continue to rise steadily year after year.
