Kuwait’s skies to be adorned by lyrid meteor shower and pink moon
A captivating celestial event will grace the skies of Kuwait and the Arab world on April 21st and 22nd, as the Lyrid Meteor Shower takes center stage.
According to the Al-Ajeeri Scientific Center, this year’s Lyrid Meteor Shower, renowned for its bright and fast-moving meteors, will coincide with the luminous presence of the moon, reaching over 95% of its illumination and appearing in the “Gibbous Waxing” phase, marking its closest approach to becoming a full moon.
The Lyrid Meteor Shower is known for producing exceptionally bright and swift meteors, occasionally even fireballs. At its peak, under ideal observation conditions, experts estimate that the shower can produce up to 20 meteors per hour.
The Al-Ajeeri Scientific Center further highlights that on April 23rd, the full moon for April, also known as the “Pink Moon” in some regions, will be visible. This name is attributed to the blooming of wild pink flowers in North America and Canada during this time.
