Kuwait’s roads to witness longer sustainability for seamless connectivity

A significant step toward ensuring all main expressways and internal streets are maintained to international standards.

H E Dr. Noura Al-Mishaan, Minister of Public Works announced that the Public Works and the Public Authority for Roads and Land Transport are about to sign 18 contracts for radical maintenance of all main expressways and internal streets in the six governorates of Kuwait with international, Gulf and local companies in the coming few days.

In a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) following the weekly cabinet meeting on Tuesday, the Minister Al-Mishaan said that the Ministry of Public Works and the Roads Authority have completed all procedures and steps, and have also obtained all approvals from the relevant government agencies and regulatory bodies to maintain these roads and streets in all areas across country.

She further added that the approvals were obtained by the relevant government agencies and supervisory bodies, namely the Ministry of Finance, the Fatwa and Legislation Department, the Central Agency for Public Tenders, and the Audit Bureau.

Dr. Noura stated that she had informed the Council of Ministers of the latest developments and the executive position of the procedures and steps that had been taken regarding the 18 aforementioned practices.

To sum up, Minister Al-Mishaan considered that completing these procedures and steps for 18 practices “is a precedent that is the first of its kind at the level of the Ministry of Public Works and the Public Roads and Land Transport Authority in terms of the number of contracts and their coverage of all regions of the State of Kuwait.”
