Kuwait’s Public Works Ministry begins radical road maintenance in the capital

The Ministry of Public Works continues its efforts to maintain the country’s internal and external roads. Today, Thursday, 26 December, the Ministry launched its first road maintenance station in the Capital Governorate, beginning work in the Al-Faiha area.

This initiative is part of new radical maintenance contracts for highway and internal road works, which include 18 major road maintenance projects across various regions in all six governorates of Kuwait.

In a press statement on Thursday, the Ministry of Public Works announced that Minister Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan has directed the concerned teams within the ministry and the General Authority for Roads and Land Transport to continue progressing with the implementation of road maintenance works. She emphasized the importance of accelerating the execution of the maintenance projects to ensure timely completion.

Al-Mashaan also emphasized the need to achieve the required progress within the specified timelines, in accordance with the agreed standards.

Moreover, Al-Mashaan added that road maintenance works will begin in the most affected areas and gradually extend to less impacted ones, with continuous supervision, oversight, and follow-up on the maintenance activities. She explained that work teams from the Ministry of Public Works will closely monitor the implementation of these works.

Additionally, a committee has been formed to select supervising engineers and conduct tests to ensure their effective management of the maintenance projects.

Al-Mashaan pointed out that her directives to begin any radical road maintenance works are in response to the recommendations of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Al-Abdullah, the Prime Minister. This initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to timely and regularly maintaining and repairing the country’s infrastructure.

Furthermore, Al-Mashaan stressed the importance of coordination to address any pending issues related to road maintenance work. She called for the swift completion of all tasks with the required quality and efficiency, in accordance with the approved technical specifications and the committed timetable.

Al-Mashaan emphasized that road maintenance and repair is a priority for the political leadership. She expressed gratitude for the esteemed directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, may God protect him, and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

These directives support and drive the implementation of road maintenance projects, aiming to build a strong infrastructure as part of the “New Kuwait 2035” vision.

For his part, the Supervisor of the Capital Governorate Project and Second Spokesperson, Eng. Jamal Al-Otaibi, explained that the current maintenance work includes cleaning and inspecting the rainwater and sewage network to ensure its safety and freedom from blockages.

Al-Otaibi urged the residents of the Al-Faiha area to cooperate with those in charge of the project to ensure its timely completion, especially as some roads will be closed during the maintenance work.
