Kuwait’s Health Ministry reported Al-Adan Hospital with highest bed occupancy rate at 72.3%
A recent report from the Ministry of Health revealed that Al-Adan Hospital ranked first among public hospitals in terms of bed occupancy rate for 2022, with a rate of 72.3 percent. In contrast, Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital had the lowest bed occupancy rate among public hospitals, at 16.4 percent.
The report also confirmed that Al-Adan Hospital had the highest bed turnover rate, at 42.5 times per year, while Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital had the lowest rate, at 10.1 times per year.
What’s more is that Jaber Hospital had the longest bed vacancy period, with an average of 29.3 days per bed, while Al-Adan Hospital had the shortest vacancy period at 2.7 days.
Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital recorded the highest average length of stay at 7.4 days, while Farwaniya Hospital had the lowest average at 5.4 days.
The report indicated that, among specialized hospitals, the highest bed occupancy rate was at the Addiction Treatment Center, with a rate of 73.7 percent, while the lowest rate was at Sabah Al-Ahmad Hospital, at 11 percent.
The maternity hospital had the highest bed turnover rate, at 40.1 times per year, while the lowest rate was recorded at the Physical Medicine Hospital, with 4 times per year.
Furthermore, the report pointed out that the Infectious Diseases Hospital had the longest bed vacancy period, at 54 days, while the Maternity Hospital had the shortest bed vacancy period, at only 4 days.
Additionally, the Physical Medicine Hospital recorded the highest average length of stay, at 73 days, while Zain Hospital had the lowest average, at 2.2 days.
The report highlighted that the total number of discharges from the Ministry of Health’s hospitals in 2022 reached 211,904, with 97.8 percent of patients discharged alive and 2.2 percent deceased. Of these discharges, Kuwaitis accounted for 52.2 percent.
Additionally, the discharge rate from the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department made up approximately 19.5 percent of the total, with about 5 discharges per department.
The report emphasized that the private hospitals sector and the petroleum sector collectively had more than 1,600 beds.
Moreover, the number of doctors in these sectors reached approximately 1,665, while the number of nurses was about 4,500.
