Kuwait’s population soars towards five-million milestone

Youth constitute the overwhelming majority of citizens, with their number reaching about 650,000

  • The number of citizens reached 1,545,781, compared to 1,517,760 a year ago, marking an increase of 28,705.

  • The number of citizens is 758,716, with females totaling 787,065 and males outnumbering non-Kuwaitis (2,262,500 compared to 1,104,990).

  • The number of non-Kuwaitis reached 3,367,490, compared to 3,276,492 a year ago, indicating an increase of 90,998.

Kuwait’s population is on the verge of surpassing five million, currently standing at 4.91 million, marking a rise of approximately 120 thousand compared to figures from a year ago.

A recent statistic from the Central Administration of Statistics showed that the population on January 1, 2024, amounted to 4,913,271, compared to 4,793,568 in January 2023.

The number of citizens reached 1,545,781, compared to 1,517,760 a year ago, marking an increase of 28,705.

As for the number of non-Kuwaitis, it reached 3,367,490, compared to 3,276,492 a year ago, indicating an increase of 90,998.

The data showed that the number of citizens is 758,716, with females totaling 787,065 and males outnumbering non-Kuwaitis (2,262,500 compared to 1,104,990).
Youth constitute the overwhelming majority of citizens, with their number reaching about 650,000, distributed across age groups as follows: 135,811 (Aged 20-24), 131,084 (Aged 25-29), 115,946 (Aged 30-34), 105,058 (Aged 35-39), 88,195 (Aged 40-44), and 75,591 (Aged 45-49).

The remaining numbers are distributed as follows, around 650,000 for age groups ranging from less than one year to 19 years old, and approximately 245,000 for age groups from 50 years old to over 80.
