Kuwait’s New Airport intersections to be implemented as part of expansion project
In a move to expedite the new airport project, the Audit Bureau has approved contracting with a company to construct, complete, develop, and maintain roads and intersections for the new passenger terminal at Kuwait Airport on Al-Maqwa Road.
The contract, valued at 51.9 million dinars for a period of 36 months, includes savings of 16.7 million dinars. This reduction is due to the removal of an additional road from the original tender, worth 1.8 million dinars, in accordance with Cabinet Resolution No. 621. This decision confirms the accuracy of the Audit Bureau’s opinion in this regard.
Informed sources from the Ministry of Public Works stated that the implementation of this project, alongside the completion of the three airport packages, demonstrates the Ministry’s and relevant Authorities’ commitment to complete the airport project on schedule.
It was highlighted that the company awarded the tender for the airport road intersections is also responsible for executing the three airport package projects. The sources emphasized the dedication of the ministry and other authorities to ensure the timely completion of this vital project.
It is noteworthy that the Audit Bureau’s approval to contract with the winning company for this project was based on five conditions:
- The first condition is to ensure there are no obstacles at the project site that could delay its implementation.
- The second is to ensure that the tender details are consistent and align with all the works included in the Passenger Terminal No. (2) Project packages.
- The third condition is to amend the fines document regarding penalties for worker absences, in line with the Ministry’s letter No. (16/3-431) dated October 11, 2023.
- The fourth condition is that individual prices in the valuation budget should align with prevailing market prices.
- The fifth condition is to coordinate with the General Administration of Civil Aviation to ensure all its requirements are met.
