Kuwait’s leadership offers condolences to Russia over tragic plane crash

Kuwait’s top leadership has extended heartfelt condolences to Russian President Vladimir Putin following the fatal crash of a Soviet-era Antonov An-24 aircraft in Russia’s Far East, which claimed the lives of all 48 people on board.

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah sent a cable expressing deep sorrow over the tragedy, praying for patience and solace for the victims’ families.

Similarly, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled conveyed his sympathies in a separate cable to President Putin, sharing the grief of the Russian people in the wake of the devastating loss.

The aging aircraft, built in 1976 and operated by Angara Airlines, was en route from Blagoveshchensk to Tynda when it crashed in dense forest during a second landing attempt. The incident has sparked renewed concerns about the continued use of decades-old planes in remote regions amid limited access to modern parts due to Western sanctions.

Russian authorities have launched a criminal investigation, and President Putin observed a minute of silence in memory of the victims during a government meeting.
