Kuwait’s fresh water production capacity reaches 450 million gallons daily

Kuwait’s Water Association announced that it will organize a symposium on sustainable solutions to address water efficiency challenges on Tuesday, 14th January.

The event will be held at the headquarters of the Arab Planning Institute and will feature an elite group of researchers, technicians, consultants, and administrators specialized in water, as well as pioneers of smart sustainable solutions. The symposium will focus on addressing water shortages and implementing the “water efficiency” strategy.

The Water Association’s Chairman, Dr. Saleh Al-Muzaini, stated in a press statement that the symposium is an essential part of achieving “Kuwait’s Vision 2035” and the National Water Strategy, which aims to achieve water sustainability by presenting proposals and solutions to overcome challenges, thereby enhancing the efficiency and rationalization of water use.

Al-Muzaini stated that the production capacity of fresh water in the State of Kuwait is approximately 450 million gallons per day, with a substantial strategic stock that is utilized during emergencies.

The Water Association’s Chairman, Al-Muzaini pointed out that Kuwait faces a significant challenge due to population growth and climate change, which have increased the demand for water. He stressed that there are concerns about water shortages, so alternative strategies must be followed to reduce water consumption, including rationalization and the application of efficiency. The State of Kuwait is actively working to address the challenges of water demand, acknowledging that water scarcity is a problem that requires finding solutions and exploring unconventional methods.

Al-Muzaini added that the efforts of the State of Kuwait have not stopped but have increased to boost water reserves in order to address the challenge of water shortages, while also enhancing the policy of awareness and sustainable rationalization.

Moreover, Al-Muzaini explained that the symposium will discuss the State of Kuwait’s efforts to intensify its technological initiatives to conserve water and rationalize consumption with the aim of increasing efficiency. He added that the event will highlight the “Kafa’a” program in detail, explore the application of efficiency strategies in both public and private buildings, present best practices and technical solutions, and provide an overview of the challenges and solutions related to water resources.
