Kuwait’s Coast Guard intensifies inspections, vows zero tolerance for violations

The Director-General of the Coast Guard, Brigadier General Sheikh Mubarak Ali Al-Yousef, emphasized the need to intensify oversight efforts and ensure the readiness of the maritime security system. He also stressed that the Coast Guard would take legal action against violators without hesitation.
This statement by Al-Yousef came after his supervision of an extensive inspection campaign conducted by the Coast Guard Department in Kuwait Bay, utilizing the mobile operations room at the Nawaf Al-Ahmad Coast Guard Base. He added that the administration will continue conducting 24-hour maritime patrols to ensure the safety of seagoers and protect territorial waters from any violations.
A press release issued by the Ministry of Interior explained that the campaign, conducted in the presence of several Coast Guard leaders, is part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to maintain maritime security and enhance compliance with regulatory procedures within territorial waters.
The ministry stated that the purpose of the campaign was to strengthen maritime control and ensure that vessels comply with established safety and security standards. This included inspections and audits of automatic identification systems and other safety equipment to verify their adherence to approved regulations. Furthermore, the campaign monitored boat and ship owners to ensure they were following maritime laws and procedures.
Importantly, the ministry emphasized that the campaign is part of its comprehensive strategy to enhance maritime security and curb any illegal activities that could threaten the safety of maritime navigation or the marine environment.
The ministry called on all seafarers to adhere to security guidelines and follow the instructions issued by the competent authorities, as this plays a fundamental role in preserving their safety and security.
