Kuwaiti Forces Intercept Ballistic Missiles, Drones as Iranian Attack Injures Soldiers

Kuwait’s Armed Forces intercepted hostile ballistic missiles and drones that entered the country’s airspace early Friday, while an Iranian attack targeted military, civilian and critical infrastructure, injuring several Kuwaiti soldiers, the Ministry of Defense said.

Official Ministry of Defense spokesman Major General Saud Abdulaziz Al-Otaibi said the Armed Forces detected the incoming missiles and drones at dawn and successfully intercepted and dealt with them.

He said the Iranian attack targeted several Kuwaiti Army facilities and camps using hostile drones, leaving a number of Kuwaiti Land Force personnel injured while carrying out their duties. The injured received medical treatment and are reported to be in stable condition.

The attack also struck several vital civilian facilities, including a power station and a water distillation plant, causing a fire and damaging several station facilities and electricity generation units.

In addition, shrapnel fell in several areas across the country, resulting in material damage, although no civilian casualties were reported.

The Armed Forces said they remain on high alert and continue to carry out their missions with full operational readiness, while taking all necessary measures to safeguard Kuwait’s sovereignty, security and stability in coordination with the relevant authorities and to ensure the safety of citizens and residents.
