Kuwait withdraws, revokes, and loses citizenship in 3,701 cases, including 94 first-class cases
The Supreme Committee for the Investigation of Kuwaiti Nationality has decided to withdraw, lose, and revoke the nationality of 3,701 cases.
This includes 94 cases under (Article 1), and 3,601 cases under (Article 8), and 5 cases of dual citizenship, with one case set for revocation. The decision will be presented to the Council of Ministers for approval.
The First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Interior, H. E. Sheikh Fahad Yousef Al-Sabah, chaired the meeting of the Supreme Committee for Citizenship Investigation, during which the following decisions were made:
- Loss of nationality in accordance with Articles (10 and 11) of the Kuwaiti Nationality Law No. (15) of 1959, affecting 5 cases of dual citizenship.
- Withdrawing citizenship certificates in accordance with Article (21 bis A) of the Kuwaiti Citizenship Law No. (15) of 1959 and its amendments, due to fraud, false statements (forgery), or acquisition through dependency. This affects 94 cases who obtained citizenship under (Article 1).
- Withdrawal of citizenship in accordance with Article (13) Paragraph (1) of the Kuwaiti Nationality Law No. (15) of 1959 (Article 8) and its amendments, due to fraud and false statements. This affects 2 cases.
- Withdrawal of citizenship in accordance with Article (13), Paragraph (4) of the Kuwaiti Nationality Law No. (15) of 1959 (Article 8) and its amendments, affecting 3,599 cases from 54 different countries.
- Cancellation of the citizenship certificate in accordance with Article (14) of the Kuwaiti Nationality Law No. (15) of 1959, affecting 1 case.
