• The 6th Kuwait Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Conference will feature 25 local doctors and 7 international experts, fostering exchange and cooperation in rehabilitation.
Dr. Jamal Mohammed Jamal, Head of the Medical Authority at the Hospital of Physical Medicine and Health Rehabilitation and Chairman of the Council of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Departments at the Ministry of Health, announced the launch of the 6th Kuwait Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Conference.
The event, held under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi, the Minister of Health, will take place from January 9 to 11 at Salwa Sabah Al-Ahmad Hall, themed “The Rehabilitation Journey Continues… Current Updates and Recommendations,” according to Q8-Press.
In a press statement, Dr. Jamal revealed that there are ambitious plans to establish a new hospital aimed at making the physical medicine and rehabilitation hospital an accredited center in the Middle East, offering high-quality and integrated healthcare.
Dr. Jamal explained that the conference aims to highlight the latest standards and techniques in medical rehabilitation from around the world, with the goal of raising awareness about the importance of rehabilitation and enhancing the efficiency of workers in this field through continuous training and capacity development.
He added that this event represents an important step in building a healthy society free of the challenges faced by patients with disabilities and improving the quality of medical rehabilitation services to address various diseases and health issues.
He pointed out that the conference aligns with Kuwait Vision 2035 and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals by supporting workers in the field of medical rehabilitation and improving society’s quality of life, stressing that achieving these goals primarily depends on the development of medical competencies and modern technologies.
He also highlighted that the conference will feature two specialized workshops: the first on using sonar rays to diagnose and treat joint and muscle problems such as knee, shoulder, and ankle issues, and the second on diagnosing and treating muscle spasms associated with central nervous system conditions like strokes and spinal cord injuries. These workshops will be led by a group of international doctors.
Dr. Jamal explained that the conference will include lectures and training sessions covering various topics, including spinal cord injuries, sports injuries, strokes, back pain, and aging-related issues. It will also showcase scientific and medical posters reflecting the progress of research within Kuwait.
Dr. Jamal stated that the conference will see the participation of 25 doctors from Kuwait and seven from Canada, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE, offering a valuable opportunity to exchange experiences with international experts and strengthen cooperation in medical rehabilitation.
He emphasized that the conference will award participants 17 continuing education points approved by the Kuwait Institute of Medical Specialties, noting that the event serves as a platform to enhance medical performance, develop therapeutic programs, and exchange professional experiences, all of which will positively impact the quality of medical rehabilitation services in Kuwait.
He explained that Kuwait continues to lead in the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation among the countries of the region by achieving international recognition for quality and medical safety.
The sector has witnessed major developments, including the modernization of medical devices and systems, the improvement of specialized facilities and clinics, the hosting of international experts, and the expansion of physical medicine and rehabilitation departments in various hospitals under the Ministry of Health.
