First Kuwait International Chess Festival kicks off with 250 players
The championship, concluding on the 13th of this month, includes coaches and youth participants from twenty-five countries.

The first Kuwait International Chess Festival kicked off on Sunday, featuring five tournaments and attracting over 250 players, including coaches and youth participants from twenty five countries, according to Al Jarida newspaper.
Adel Al-Amiri, Vice President of the Kuwait Mind Sports Association, said in a press statement that the festival features the Masters, Challenge, and Women’s championships, as well as two fast chess tournaments for adults and children. The event lasts for nine days, concluding on the 13th of this month.
Al-Amiri added that the first day’s competitions saw the start of the first round of the Masters, Challenge, and Women’s events, with rounds held daily throughout the nine days.
He explained that the fast chess championship consists of nine rounds, starting on the 9th with five rounds, and concluding on the 10th with four rounds. He also mentioned that the blitz chess championship will take place on the 11th, consisting of nine rounds played on the same day.
He stressed the great importance of the club hosting this large gathering, as it helps spread the game among young people and juniors, expressing optimism about the success of the five tournaments.
He expected the tournament to be marked by strong competition, with participation from top players in this mind sport, and welcomed all sports delegations.
Al-Amiri expressed his gratitude to the Public Authority for Sports for its tremendous support and for providing everything necessary to ensure the success of this special event.
