Kuwait traffic law sets speeding fines from 70 to 150 dinars

• Fines for exceeding the speed limit in Kuwait range from 100 dinars for exceeding the limit by 40-50 kilometers to 120 dinars for exceeding it by 50-60 kilometers.

A ministerial resolution was issued to amend certain provisions of Ministerial Resolution No. 81/1976 concerning the executive regulations of the Traffic Law and its amendments. According to the resolution, Article ‘211 bis’ of the aforementioned Ministerial Resolution No. 81/1976 is now amended to state the following, as reported by Arabic daily Al Jarida.

The settlement amount for the accused in cases of exceeding the maximum speed limit will be determined in accordance with Clause ‘7’ of Article ‘41’ of Decree-Law No. 5/2025, which amends certain provisions of Decree-Law No. 67/1976 on traffic, based on the following principles:

1. Pay an amount of seventy dinars for exceeding the maximum speed limit by no more than twenty kilometers.
2. Pay an amount of eighty dinars for exceeding the maximum speed limit by more than twenty kilometers but not exceeding thirty kilometers.
3. Pay an amount of ninety dinars for exceeding the maximum speed limit by more than thirty kilometers but not exceeding forty kilometers.
4. Pay a fine of one hundred dinars for exceeding the maximum speed limit by more than forty kilometers but not exceeding fifty kilometers.
5. Pay an amount of one hundred and twenty dinars for exceeding the maximum speed limit by more than fifty kilometers but not exceeding sixty kilometers.
6. Pay an amount of one hundred and thirty dinars for exceeding the maximum speed limit by more than sixty kilometers but not exceeding seventy kilometers.
7. Pay an amount of one hundred and fifty dinars for exceeding the maximum speed limit by more than seventy kilometers.
