Kuwait to assess certificates of citizens, expatriate employees

The committee, set up by the Minister of Higher Education, is tasked with examining post-secondary study certificates from outside Kuwait since 2000 and auditing their validity according to approved standards.

Dr. Adel Al-Adwani, the Minister of Higher Education, has formed a committee to assess post-secondary school certificates of national and resident employees issued from outside Kuwait, according to the Al Qabas newspaper.

The committee, led by Lamia Al-Mulham, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, was assembled to commission members including the Assistant Undersecretary for Mission Affairs, Equations, and Cultural Relations at the Ministry of Higher Education; the Assistant Undersecretary for Missions and Study Leaves Affairs at the Civil Service Commission, Nargis Yahya; Basma Al-Yaqoub, the Director of the Fatwa and Opinion Department at the Diwan; Rabab Al-Osab Al-Osaimi, Deputy Director-General for Planning and Administrative Development to be assigned to the Public Authority of Manpower; Counsellor Abdul Hamid Al-Matar from the Fatwa and Legislation Department; the Controller of Foreign Certificates Equalisation at the Ministry of Higher Education; and from the Certificate Equivalency Department at the ministry, Adari Al-Sunni and Fatima Zaman.

The decision stipulated that the committee is entrusted with the following tasks and competencies:

  • Examination of post-secondary study certificates in all scientific degrees issued from outside the State of Kuwait, obtained by national and resident employees since 2000.
  • Auditing the validity of scientific certificates and reviewing them according to approved foundations and standards.

The decision stated that the committee convenes upon the invitation of its chairman, and its meetings are valid with the presence of the majority of its members.

The committee is authorized to form subcommittees and utilize any resources it deems necessary to carry out its tasks.

Furthermore, it is required to submit a monthly progress report to the Minister of Education and the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. At the end of its six-month working period, the committee must also submit a final report detailing its findings to the respective ministers.
