Kuwait, Saudi Arabia sign aviation deal to boost technical cooperation

The memorandum marks a new step in boosting aviation ties between the two countries, enhancing national expertise and aligning with the latest technological advancements.

The memorandum between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia sets a framework for cooperation in training, expertise exchange, system upgrades, and boosting aviation safety and security.

Kuwaits Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) signed a cooperation memorandum on Wednesday. The agreement aims to boost technical collaboration and facilitate the exchange of expertise within the aviation sector, as reported by the Arabic daily Al Rai.

Sheikh Hamoud Al-Mubarak, Director General of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), said following the signing that the memorandum aims to establish a comprehensive framework for cooperation in training, exchange of expertise, and modernization of operational systems. It also seeks to enhance aviation security and safety in line with international standards.

He added that the memorandum represents a new step towards strengthening integration between the two brotherly countries in the aviation sector, noting that the cooperation will help raise the efficiency of national cadres and keep pace with the latest technological developments in the field.

For his part, Abdulaziz Al-Duaij, President of the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation, said in a similar statement that the cooperation would support coordination in technical and training aspects and help achieve the two countries’ shared vision of advancing the aviation sector. He also praised the strategic relations between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

The two sides discussed laying the foundation for modernizing operational processes, with a focus on launching joint training programs and facilitating the exchange of technical personnel.

Security and safety in aviation sector

They also explored the possibility of joint initiatives related to aviation security and safety, including policy coordination and data sharing, to ensure the highest standards of quality and safety.

The signing was attended by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Kuwait, H.H. Prince Sultan bin Saad bin Khaled Al Saud.
