Kuwait Fire Force warns against elevator use during power outage
Brigadier General Mohammed Al-Gharib urged people not to force open elevator doors during outages, but to sit calmly on the floor and wait for help.

• Brigadier General Mohammed Al-Gharib of the Kuwait Fire Force advised pressing the alarm button for assistance and urged the public not to hesitate to call the emergency number (112) if needed.
The Kuwait Fire Force on Wednesday urged the public to avoid using elevators during the scheduled power outage announced by the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, according to Arabic daily Al Rai.
In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency, Brigadier General Mohammed Al-Gharib, Director of the Public Relations and Media Department at the Kuwait Fire Force, urged the public to remain calm and avoid panic in the event of an elevator stoppage or power outage. He advised pressing the alarm button to call for assistance.
He emphasized not attempting to open the elevator door, as it could endanger one’s life. Instead, he recommended sitting on the elevator floor to reduce stress and waiting calmly for help to arrive. He also encouraged the public not to hesitate to call the emergency number (112) if assistance is needed.
