Kuwait revokes nationality of six individuals
A Kuwaiti loses nationality if they acquire foreign citizenship; their wife retains Kuwaiti nationality unless she also adopts the foreign citizenship, while minor children lose it if they take the father's new nationality.
The Supreme Committee to Investigate Kuwaiti Citizenship has revoked the nationality of six individuals under Article 11 of Amiri Decree No. 15 of 1959, which stipulates that a Kuwaiti loses their nationality if they voluntarily acquire a foreign citizenship, the Al Rai newspaper reported.
Their Kuwaiti wives retain their nationality unless they also acquire the foreign citizenship, while their minor children lose Kuwaiti nationality if they adopt the father’s new nationality. The children may retain Kuwaiti nationality by notifying the Minister of Interior within two years after reaching adulthood.
