Kuwait records scorching 51°c in several areas, relief expected Tuesday

Acting Director of the Meteorology Department, Dharar Al-Ali, announced that monitoring stations recorded extreme heat on Saturday, with temperatures soaring to 51°C in Al-Rabiya, Al-Jahra, and Al-Abdali, and reaching 50°C at Kuwait International Airport.

Speaking to KUNA, Al-Ali explained that the country is currently under the influence of an extension of the Indian monsoon low, bringing an exceptionally hot air mass that is expected to persist until Monday. He noted that northwesterly winds—light to moderate but occasionally active—have begun stirring dust storms, particularly in open areas.

According to weather maps and numerical models, Kuwait will continue to experience extremely hot daytime conditions and hot to warm nights. However, a slight drop in temperatures is forecast starting Tuesday, with highs expected to range between 46°C and 48°C. Dust storms are also anticipated due to continued active northwesterly winds.

Al-Ali urged the public to avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours, stay well hydrated, and use appropriate sunscreen. He emphasized the importance of staying updated through the Meteorology Department’s official website, app, social media platforms, and the “Sahl” app for the latest weather developments.
