Kuwait pledges continued commitment to climate goals at COP29

His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah attended the UN Climate Change Conference in Baku, where he met with Kuwait’s negotiating team and emphasized the need for united efforts to enhance performance and negotiation skills to achieve the goals of international climate agreements.

His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, representing His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, attended the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Baku, Azerbaijan. This high-level event, which began on Tuesday, marks the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 29) under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, as reported by Al Rai newspaper.

His Highness the Crown Prince, along with his official delegation, arrived at Heydar Aliyev International Airport early on Tuesday to lead the delegation of the State of Kuwait at the COP29 summit.

Upon arrival, His Highness was received on the tarmac by Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Republic of Azerbaijan Fusal Nasserli, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Kuwait Emil Karimov, and the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Kuwait in Azerbaijan, Counselor Ahmed Al-Harbash.

The Azerbaijan State News Agency reported that President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and UN Secretary-General António Guterres welcomed attendees, including heads of state, government leaders, and delegation heads, participating in the summit.

The COP29 conference, running until November 22, aims to strengthen international cooperation and take concrete measures to combat climate change and fulfill the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement, while ensuring equitable distribution of resources and opportunities between developed and developing nations.

Crown Prince guides Kuwait’s climate negotiators at COP29

In this context, His Highness the Crown Prince, along with the accompanying delegation, met with the Kuwaiti negotiating team for the Climate Change Agreement.

His Highness emphasized the political leadership’s commitment to reviewing the team’s efforts, monitoring their progress, and visiting them during the summit events. He also shared his guidance and negotiation insights, underscoring the nation’s priority in placing the country’s interests above all other considerations.

His Highness highlighted the importance of united efforts to enhance performance and negotiation skills, aiming to achieve the objectives of international climate agreements.

He stressed the need to face challenges, develop the capacities of Kuwaiti youth to meet national hopes and aspirations, and create practical solutions that benefit everyone. His Highness wished the team continued success in raising the banner of Kuwait proudly.

Kuwait and Kazakhstan explore ways to strengthen bilateral relations

On the sidelines of the summit, the representative of His Highness the Amir held a series of meetings with heads of state and senior officials, focusing on strengthening relations and discussing regional and international developments.

In this context, the representative of the Amir met with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of the Republic of Kazakhstan and conveyed the greetings of His Highness the Amir at the start of the meeting. They discussed the joint relations between Kuwait and Kazakhstan and explored ways to enhance them for the benefit of both countries and their people. They also reviewed key developments on the regional and international fronts.

Kuwait, Montenegro review regional and international issues

In another meeting, the representative of the Amir met with President Jakov Milatović of the Republic of Montenegro and extended the greetings of His Highness at the beginning of their conversation. The two sides discussed the bilateral relations between Kuwait and Montenegro, examined ways to strengthen them, and reviewed prominent regional and international issues.

Kuwait and Azerbaijan review ways to boost ties

The Crown Prince also met with President Ilham Aliyevof the friendly Republic of Azerbaijan and conveyed the greetings of His Highness. During their meeting, they reviewed the bilateral relations between Kuwait and Azerbaijan, discussed ways to support and enhance these ties, and examined key regional and international developments.

Kuwait and Jordan discuss means to support joint Arab efforts

The representative of His Highness the Amir met with his brother, Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II of the brotherly Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, conveying the greetings of His Highness the Amir and his greetings to King Abdullah II of Jordan.

They reviewed the strong brotherly relations between Kuwait and Jordan, exploring ways to strengthen these ties across various fields to support joint Arab efforts. Additionally, they discussed prominent developments on the regional and international fronts.

The meetings were attended by Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya, Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs at the Court of His Highness the Crown Prince, Mazen Al-Issa, and Bader Saleh Abdullah Al-Tunaib, Assistant Foreign Minister for the Affairs of the Minister’s Office.
