Kuwait joins Arab-Islamic push to preserve status of Jerusalem

Kuwait Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah participated in a joint ministerial meeting of the League of Arab States and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on Jerusalem at the United Nations in New York, as diplomatic activity intensified during the high-level week of the 81st UN General Assembly session.
The meeting brought Arab and Islamic foreign ministers together to review the latest developments in Jerusalem and discuss ways to strengthen coordination and joint diplomatic action.
According to Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, discussions focused on preserving the existing historical and legal status of Jerusalem, protecting its holy sites and supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people in accordance with international law and relevant UN resolutions.
Kuwait’s participation places its diplomatic engagement within the broader Arab and Islamic effort to maintain coordinated positions on Jerusalem at the international level. Kuwait has consistently referenced international law and UN resolutions in its stated position on the Palestinian issue.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly’s high-level week, bringing the Jerusalem issue into a wider programme of international diplomatic engagement in New York.
