Kuwait issues decree withdrawing citizenship from 2,087 women

A new decree has been issued revoking Kuwaiti citizenship of 2,087 women over fraudulent documentation.

The decree, published in Kuwait’s Official Gazette today, 29 December, was based on decisions by the Supreme Committee for the Realization of Kuwaiti Citizenship, which was chaired by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense and Interior, H. E. Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef.

The decree also mandates the withdrawal of nationality from these women and those who acquired it through them by subordination.
