Kuwait Fund signs eight agreements for global development projects

The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) has signed eight agreements to provide grants and loans for projects in Palestine, Sudan, Yemen, Somalia, Cape Verde, Bhutan, Guinea, and Malawi.

These agreements, according to Al-Rai daily, were finalized during the 2025 Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group and the IMF in Washington, D.C., with KFAED’s Acting Director General, Waleed Al-Bahar, representing the Fund.

The following are the key agreements:

    • A $2 million grant to the UNDP for providing clean drinking water to the Gaza Strip as part of an emergency support project.
    • A $2 million grant to enhance drinking water infrastructure for displaced persons and refugees in Sudan.
    • A $1.5 million grant to the International Organization for Migration for the development of public services infrastructure in Yemen.
    • A 3 million dinars loan for the construction, rehabilitation, and equipping of health facilities in Cape Verde.
    • A 5 million dinars loan to finance Bhutan’s Bigana Hydroelectric Project.
    • A $2.5 million grant to support the Somalia Humanitarian Fund for 2025-2026.
    • A 4 million dinars loan to finance a road project in Guinea.
    • A 3 million dinars loan for the Mangoshi-Mkangira Road Project in Malawi.
      These agreements underscore KFAED’s commitment to supporting development and humanitarian efforts across various countries.
