Kuwait foils smuggling of 4 million Captagon pills worth with 12 million dinars

The Criminal Security Sector of the Ministry of Interior, has seized 4 million Captagon pills—with a street value of 12 million dinars (approximately $39.3 million)—hidden ingeniously inside water treatment pipes.

The Public Relations and Security Media Department of the ministry said this anti-drug operation was carried out under the direct supervision of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, in coordination with the General Administration of Customs and the Kuwait Fire Force.

The operation was the result of intelligence gathered by the General Department for Drug Control, which received a tip about an attempt to smuggle a large shipment of psychotropic substances into Kuwait.

The authorities allowed the shipment to proceed under strict monitoring, coordinating with customs officials to track the cargo and identify all those involved.

As a result of this carefully coordinated effort, one suspect was arrested inside Kuwait, while the main suspect remains abroad. International coordination is currently underway with a counterpart anti-narcotics agency to ensure his arrest and initiate legal procedures.

Investigations revealed that the smuggled shipment had passed through an Arab country, then a European country, as part of a plan to camouflage its origin and destination, before reaching Kuwait.

The Ministry praised the fruitful cooperation among the involved agencies, emphasizing its unwavering commitment to confronting drug smuggling networks with preemptive security strikes.

The ministry reiterated its firm stance: “We will show no leniency toward anyone who attempts to threaten the security of the homeland or the well-being of its people.”
