Contractors are anticipating notable extensions to the bidding deadlines for two major oil projects in Kuwait, which are collectively valued at $2 billion, with bid deadlines currently set for next month.
According to a source quoted by MEED, contractors with the capacity to execute these significant oil projects in Kuwait are currently engaged with other ongoing projects, leading them to likely request extensions for the bidding deadlines. If an extension is granted, there could be a considerable delay in the submission of bids, which may not occur until after Ramadan.
Last month, MEED reported that seven companies were considering submitting bids for two major oil projects in Kuwait. The projects include the development of the Separation Gathering Centre 1 (SGC-1) and Water Injection Plant 1 (WIP-1), as well as the separate development of SGC-3 and WIP-3. Each of these projects is valued at approximately KWD300 million ($970 million).
MEED sources revealed that several prominent companies attended the pre-tender meeting earlier this week for the two major oil projects in Kuwait. The companies included Petrofac (UK), Saipem (Italy), Técnicas Reunidas (Spain), Larsen & Toubro (India), Samsung (South Korea), Hyundai (South Korea), and Daewoo (South Korea).
