The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has approved hallmarking exemptions for imported precious metal products bearing the hallmarks of 21 international jewelry brands, under regulations governing the verification and marking of imported precious metals and related products.
The approval was issued in accordance with Ministerial Resolution No. 165 of 2019, which regulates hallmarking procedures for imported precious metals and products, along with its amendments. According to the resolution published in the official gazette Kuwait Alyawm, the exemptions took effect from the date of issuance and will remain valid until October 10, 2027. However, the Al-Rai daily did not identify the exempted brands.
The decision establishes the applicable exemption period for the approved brands under Kuwait’s existing regulatory framework for imported precious metal products. It concerns the recognition of their hallmarks and does not, on the information provided, indicate a general exemption for all imported jewelry or precious metal goods.
The ministry’s decision forms part of the procedures governing the import and handling of precious metal products in Kuwait, with the approved exemptions remaining subject to the scope and conditions of the relevant resolution.
