Kuwait deports over 595,000 people in 33 years; 25,000 more sent out since start of 2024

Kuwait has deported more than 595,000 people over the last 33 years, including 354,168 men, 230,441 women, and over 10,000 families, according to Brigadier Jassim Al-Misbah, Director of the Deportation Department at the Ministry of Interior. The process has been streamlined, with deportations now completed within just three days for those referred by the Ministry’s various sectors. In 2023 alone, 42,000 expatriates were deported, and 25,000 more have already been sent out since the start of 2024.
Sponsors are responsible for providing deportees’ flight tickets, while the Ministry offers assistance through dedicated travel offices to speed up the process. Once deportation is approved, individuals are fingerprinted and transported to the airport under strict security measures.
A new deportation facility in Sulaibiya, currently 90% complete, will accommodate men, women, and families, offering visitor spaces, access to lawyers, and even a supermarket. Kuwait continues to uphold humanitarian standards, ensuring deportees receive food, healthcare, and dignified treatment during their stay.
