Kuwait denies reports of missile attack on military bases, urges public to avoid rumors

The General Staff of the Kuwait Army has categorically denied rumors circulating on social media claiming that a Kuwaiti military air base was targeted by a missile attack amid ongoing regional tensions.

In an official statement, Colonel Saud Al-Atwan, spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense, affirmed that Kuwait’s territorial sovereignty remains intact and that no violations or attacks have taken place within the country’s borders.

“The integrity of Kuwait’s sovereignty is fully protected, and no military air base has been subjected to any missile assault,” Al-Atwan said, dismissing online speculation as baseless.

The army called on citizens and residents to exercise caution and verify information before sharing it, especially during a time of heightened security sensitivities in the region. The statement emphasized the importance of relying solely on official and credible sources for updates.

This comes shortly after Kuwait temporarily closed its airspace as a precautionary measure in response to regional developments, particularly following Iran’s missile strike on the U.S. Al-Udeid base in Qatar. Kuwait strongly condemned the Iranian attack, labeling it a “flagrant violation” of Qatari sovereignty.

A government source also confirmed earlier that the U.S. military base in Kuwait was not attacked, countering claims suggesting a broader Iranian missile campaign targeting American assets across the Gulf.

As tensions remain high and misinformation spreads rapidly online, Kuwaiti authorities are prioritizing transparency and public reassurance while maintaining close coordination with regional and international partners to ensure national security.
