Kuwait demands WSJ correct inaccurate claims of military action against Iran

  • H.E. Sheikha Zain Al-Sabah firmly rejects false reporting, says factual accuracy is not only a journalistic responsibility but also essential to safeguarding regional stability and ensuring that public opinion is not misled on matters affecting international peace and security

Kuwait has strongly rejected a report published by The Wall Street Journal alleging that it participated in military operations against Iran, describing the claims as entirely false and reaffirming its longstanding policy of neutrality, respect for international law and peaceful diplomacy.

In an official letter addressed to the newspaper’s editorial board, Kuwait’s Ambassador to the United States, H.E. Sheikha Zain Al-Sabah, responded to an article published on July 24 titled “Bahrain, Kuwait warplanes struck Iran in rare Gulf retaliation,” stating that its contents were inaccurate and did not reflect Kuwait’s position or actions.

The ambassador said the report’s allegations were “false in their entirety,” stressing that Kuwait has not participated in any military operations against Iran and has not permitted the use of its territory, airspace or territorial waters to launch offensive operations against any neighboring country.

The Kuwait envoy reaffirmed that Kuwait’s position throughout the current regional developments has remained consistent, public and based on clear principles, including respect for international law, preservation of state sovereignty, promotion of good-neighborly relations and the peaceful resolution of disputes through dialogue and diplomacy.

The letter also called on The Wall Street Journal to correct the report to accurately reflect Kuwait’s official position and foreign policy.

The ambassador emphasized that accurate reporting is particularly important during periods of heightened regional tension, noting that factual accuracy is not only a journalistic responsibility but also essential to safeguarding regional stability and ensuring that public opinion is not misled on matters affecting international peace and security.
