Kuwait Customs seize 855 grams of gold disguised as belt buckles at T4

Kuwait Customs officers at Terminal 4 of Kuwait International Airport thwarted two separate attempts to smuggle a combined 855 grams of 24-karat gold, seizing the items from two Indian passengers departing for Ahmedabad.
The customs officers became suspicious of the travelers as they completed departure procedures. An inspection of the first passenger uncovered 353 grams of pure gold cast in the form of a belt buckle and coated in black, in an apparent attempt to conceal the nature of the metal.
In the second case, officers found 502 grams of gold, including 340 grams cast as a black-coated belt buckle and a 162-gram bracelet made of linked rings coated with a silver-colored substance to disguise the metal.
Customs said seizure reports are being prepared, with the two passengers and the seized items to be referred to the competent authorities for the necessary legal measures.
