Kuwait condemns Iranian attacks, warns of ‘highly dangerous escalation’
Kuwait has strongly condemned what it described as “heinous Iranian attacks” targeting the country, warning that continued hostilities risk further destabilizing the region and undermining international efforts aimed at reducing tensions.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kuwait said the continuation of such attacks represents a “highly dangerous escalation” that could threaten regional peace and security while complicating diplomatic efforts to resolve disputes through peaceful means.
The ministry reaffirmed Kuwait’s commitment to protecting its security and sovereignty, stressing that the country reserves all rights to take necessary measures in accordance with international law and the United Nations Charter.
The statement comes amid a sharp rise in regional tensions following an exchange of military actions between Iran and the United States, with several Gulf countries reporting security incidents and activating precautionary measures.
Oman also condemned reported attacks targeting areas in the Musandam Governorate, while authorities said necessary measures were being taken to safeguard the country and its residents.
Iranian officials had earlier claimed responsibility for military operations in the region, although several claims remain independently unverified.
The escalation has also raised concerns over the security of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most strategically important waterways through which a significant share of global energy supplies passes.
International concern grew further after reports of attacks affecting commercial shipping.
India’s Ministry of External Affairs condemned an incident involving the container vessel GFS Galaxy, saying 10 of the 11 Indian nationals on board had been rescued while search operations continued for one missing crew member.
India called for an immediate reduction in tensions, stressing that attacks targeting commercial vessels and civilian infrastructure must end and that freedom of navigation through international waterways must be protected.
Meanwhile, Iranian state media reported explosions in several locations across southern Iran, including areas near the Strait of Hormuz, while US officials said recent military operations targeted Iranian military capabilities.
Analysts warned that any prolonged disruption to the Strait of Hormuz could have serious consequences for global energy markets, international trade and regional stability.
Kuwait has continued to emphasize the importance of security, stability and diplomatic solutions, while closely monitoring developments and coordinating with regional and international partners amid the rapidly evolving situation.
