The Ministry of Social Affairs has announced the successful completion of Kuwait’s third national campaign to settle the debts of struggling citizens.
The campaign mobilized a total of 15.37 million dinars to clear the debts of 2,635 beneficiaries, with the final payments transferred to the General Administration for Execution at the Ministry of Justice to complete the legal procedures.
Dr. Khaled Al-Ajmi, Undersecretary of the Ministry and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Paying Off Debts of Debtors, emphasized that the campaign achieved qualitative results surpassing those of previous rounds, both in the total amount disbursed and the number of resolved cases.
The initiative reflects the deep integration of government and community efforts, embodying Kuwait’s humanitarian approach to supporting citizens and reinforcing the country’s social protection framework, reports Al-Rai daily.
The campaign successfully closed 4,345 enforcement files, relieving families from legal and financial pressures, while restoring social and psychological stability.
Payments were executed through six structured installments, with amounts ranging from 5,000 to 16,500 dinars, in line with transparent eligibility criteria designed to ensure fairness and reach those most in need.
The distribution of cases across the six batches submitted to the Ministry of Justice was as follows: 425 in the first batch, 767 in the second, 620 in the third, 480 in the fourth, 286 in the fifth, and 57 in the sixth.
Applications exceeding 9,000 were carefully reviewed, excluding cases previously addressed or those involving telecommunications or government debts, to guarantee that the campaign’s funds reached rightful beneficiaries.
Dr. Al-Ajmi highlighted that the vetting process involved six specialized technical and legal committees, with representatives from the Ministries of Justice, Interior, Islamic Affairs, the Zakat House, and Social Affairs, ensuring that decisions were guided by governance principles and inter-institutional collaboration.
Expressing gratitude to Kuwait’s wise political leadership, the Cabinet, and key supporters—including Kuwait Finance House, Zakat House, Kuwait Red Crescent Society, the Endowment of the Heirs of Issa Abdullah Al-Othman, and the General Secretariat of Endowments — Dr. Al-Ajmi praised the collective efforts that enabled the campaign to reach its humanitarian objectives.
He reaffirmed the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the social protection system and promoting family and community stability, in alignment with Kuwait’s legal framework and humanitarian vision.
