Kuwait collective investment assets rise to 3.45b dinars in first half of 2026

Assets held by collective investment schemes in Kuwait rose 7.1 percent to 3.45 billion dinars by the end of June 2026, driven mainly by strong growth in money market funds and debt instrument funds.

According to data from the Capital Markets Authority (CMA), collective investment assets increased by 230.89 million dinars from 3.22 billion dinars at the end of December 2025.

The number of collective investment schemes also increased to 66, compared with 65 at the end of December. Conventional schemes rose to 33, while the number of Islamic schemes remained unchanged at 33.

Islamic Investment Schemes Post Stronger Growth

By type, assets held by conventional schemes increased 2.9 percent, or about 49.44 million dinars, to 1.728 billion dinars by the end of June, compared with 1.678 billion dinars in December.

Islamic schemes recorded stronger growth, with assets rising 11.7 percent, or 181.45 million dinars, to 1.726 billion dinars, compared with 1.544 billion dinars at the end of 2025.

Securities and Real Estate Funds

Assets of securities funds and schemes declined by 2.1 percent to 1.2 billion dinars, from 1.23 billion dinars previously. The assets were distributed across 34 funds, including 20 conventional funds with assets of 989.7 million dinars and 14 Islamic funds with 219.26 million dinars.

Meanwhile, real estate fund assets increased by 2.5 percent to 133.67 million dinars, compared with 130.34 million dinars. The assets were spread across four schemes: one conventional scheme with 22.854 million dinars and three Islamic schemes with 110.82 million dinars.

Money Market Funds Lead Collective Investments

Money market funds continued to hold the largest share of assets among Kuwait’s collective investment schemes, reaching 1.889 billion dinars at the end of June. Their assets increased 14 percent, or 232.3 million dinars, from 1.65 billion dinars in December.

The number of money market funds also increased to 17, from 16. These included five conventional funds with assets of 588.73 million dinars and 12 Islamic funds with assets of 1.3 billion dinars.

Debt Instrument Funds Record Strong Growth

Funds investing in debt instruments also recorded significant growth, with assets reaching 116.488 million dinars across five funds. The total included four conventional funds with assets of 94.5 million dinars and one Islamic fund holding 21.98 million dinars.

Other Collective Investment Categories

Assets of private equity funds increased 3.2 percent to 5.01 million dinars, from 4.85 million dinars, across one conventional fund. Holding fund assets rose 3.6 percent, from 26.11 million to 27.07 million dinars, also across one conventional fund.

Contractual fund assets increased 1.7 percent, from 9.1 million to 9.26 million dinars, across two Islamic schemes.
Meanwhile, REIT fund assets edged up 0.5 percent to 63.9 million dinars, distributed across one Islamic fund. Multi-asset fund assets increased 7.1 percent to 346,000 dinars, with the number of funds remaining unchanged at one conventional fund.
