Kuwait boosts food security preparedness, Minister visits shelter facilities

Minister of State for Development and Sustainability Reem Al Faleej, conducted a field inspection on Friday to several shelters within the Capital Educational District to review compliance with food storage standards set by the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition.

Speaking to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Faleej said the visit forms part of the national plan aimed at strengthening the country’s emergency response system and establishing strict safety standards for storing food supplies in shelter facilities.

The minister explained that the inspection focused on evaluating the efficiency of food storage systems and ensuring measures are in place to prevent waste or loss of supplies.

The initiative also aims to guarantee safe and reliable access to food for different segments of society during emergencies, while enhancing the readiness of national facilities to respond to various crisis situations.

Al-Faleej stressed that authorities continue to monitor the country’s food security system in a precise and systematic manner, while maintaining coordination with relevant government entities to ensure a safe and sustainable food environment across all state facilities.

The tour also included checks on temperature levels in storage areas, food preservation methods, and the adherence of staff to approved health and safety regulations. Officials confirmed that these measures are essential to maintaining the quality and safety of food supplies during emergency situations.
