Kuwait arrests citizen, Pakistani national in trafficking case
The two individuals conspired to recruit expatriate workers under a company’s sponsorship in exchange for payments of approximately 500 Kuwaiti dinars per person, the Ministry of Interior said.
• According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Interior, the investigation revealed the company sponsored 119 workers, but residency detectives halted the illegal activities, arresting all involved and referring them for legal action.
As part of ongoing efforts to combat human trafficking, the Residence Affairs Sector, through the General Directorate of Residency Investigations – Department of Research and Investigation, successfully apprehended a citizen and an individual of Pakistani nationality on charges of human trafficking, Al Jarida newspaperreported.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Interior, investigations revealed that the two individuals involved collaborated to bring expatriate workers under the sponsorship of a company in exchange for sums of money ranging from approximately 500 Kuwaiti dinars per person.
The investigations further uncovered that the company in question was registered as the sponsor of 119 workers. However, the vigilance of the residency detectives thwarted these illegal activities, leading to the arrest of all those involved in the case, including those who facilitated these operations. They were subsequently referred to the competent authorities for necessary legal action.
The Ministry of Interior emphasized its continued firm and decisive response to any attempts to engage in human trafficking or facilitate residency acquisition in exchange for money. It reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing and apprehending anyone who dares to violate the law.
