Kuwait arrests Arab resident over planned attack on places of worship

The arrest of the individual of a banned group reflects the Ministry of Interior’s ongoing proactive efforts to safeguard Kuwait’s security and stability.

  • The Arab resident was preparing to carry out bombing targeting places of worship in Kuwait. Several devices and materials used in manufacturing explosives were found at his residence, along with instructions for preparing and using them.

The Ministry of Interior announced that State Security forces arrested an Arab resident linked to a banned group who was planning a terrorist attack on places of worship, reported Al Rai newspaper.

In its statement, the ministry stressed that the arrest reflects its ongoing proactive efforts to safeguard Kuwait’s security and stability. It added that the State Security Service uncovered the individual’s affiliation with a group seeking to undermine national security and destabilize the country’s core principles.

The ministry explained that investigations revealed the suspect was preparing to carry out bombing targeting places of worship. The arrest prevented the planned attack and is part of broader measures taken to counter terrorist threats.

The ministry added that “a thorough investigation led to the arrest of the accused after extensive monitoring and surveillance. Several devices and materials used in manufacturing explosives were found at his residence, along with instructions for preparing and using them, underscoring the seriousness of the plot he intended to carry out.”

The ministry affirmed that it remains vigilant against anyone attempting to undermine the country’s security or threaten public safety. It stressed that such terrorist plots will not be tolerated under any circumstances and will be met with full force and determination to safeguard the nation and protect both citizens and residents.
